  • A photo of graduate assistant Alvi Ali.Hello! My name is Alvi Ali and I grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas. In December 2019, I graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with my B.A. in Criminology. I was also a member of the Alpha Phi Sigma Honor Society and the Delta Zeta Sorority. My hobbies include shopping, cooking, and attending volunteer events. I spend majority of my time with family and my schnauzer. 

    My research interests are geared towards crime analysis, sex crimes, and domestic violence. In the future, I aspire to earn a PhD or become a Crime Analyst.

  • A photo of graduate assistant Jordan Fuselier.My name is Jordan Fuselier and I was born and raised in Aurora, Colorado. I am a first-generation scholar and women of color who earned a B.A. in Criminology and Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado Spring 2020. I am excited to start my first year in the MSCJ Research Concentration program at the Texas State University.

    My research interests include juvenile delinquency, restorative justice, and mass incarceration. In the future, I aim to obtain my PhD in Criminal Justice and work at the University level in the CJ Department and Diversity office. I am a CJ graduate assistant, member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., a McNair Scholar, and a College Track Alum. When I find free time, I enjoy reading, working out, and spending time with family and my Goldendoodle puppy.

  • A photo of graduate assistant George Garza.Howdy everyone! My name is George Garza and I was born and raised in Austin, Texas. I graduated from Texas State on December 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. While working to earn my Bachelor's degree,  I was a member of Lambda Alpha Epsilon. I will start my first year in the MSCJ Research Concentration Program at Texas State in Fall 2021. My research interests include crime analysis, victimization, and policing. For the future, I hope to be a crime analyst working with law enforcement. In my free time I like to play video games, tending my small garden and spending time with family and friends.

  • A photo of graduate assistant Andrea Hazelwood.My name is Andrea Hazelwood and I graduated from TXST in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Education. I taught high school math for three years in Austin and San Antonio, but am now pursuing my dream of earning a PhD in CJ. My research interests include crime analysis and mapping, statistics, and the juvenile justice system. In my free time I love to run and compete in races from 5K’s to marathons. I’m sure you’ll see me running around San Marcos some time!

    My name is Sierra Niemann and I was raised in Pflugerville, Texas.  I graduated from Texas State University in 2021 as a student-athlete with a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a minor in Psychology.  I am now pursuing my M.S. in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Psychology.  My goal is to pursue my PhD in Criminal Justice and go on to work with mentally ill inmates.  I also have interests in working for a federal agency such as the FBI.  In my free time I enjoy arts and crafts, playing soccer, and hiking!

  • A photo of graduate assistant Marco Rangel.I was born and raised here in San Marcos, Texas and I am a second-generation Texas State graduate. In May of 2020, I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. My career goals after finishing the MSCJ program is to work for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) or the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). I look forward to being in the MSCJ program to continue my education and possibly pursue my PhD.

  • A photo of graduate assistant Addison Richards.My name is Addison Richards, and I was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, a minor in Communications, and I am a Delta Gamma alumna from Texas State University. I look forward to beginning the MSCJ Research Concentration program at Texas State University. After graduate school, my long-range goals are to pursue a PhD in Criminal Justice, publish research findings, and ultimately teach at the university level. My research interests include women, prison systems, and mental ill inmates. 
    For my free time, when I have any, I enjoy thrifting, visiting local San Marcos coffee shops, crafting, hanging out with my two cats, and swimming.

  • A photo of graduate assistant Lupita Tovar

    I was born in Columbia, Maryland, and moved to San Marcos, Texas, in 2015. I attended Austin Community College for Physical Therapy and realized it was not for me. I transferred to Texas State and obtained my bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2019. It was during my last semester of undergraduate studies that I decided to pursue a master’s degree. My free time is my family time with my husband and three-year-old son. I am interested in a career in federal law enforcement or intelligence analysis for the Army.
